The Advanced Continuing Education Association (ACEA or "We"/"Our"/"Us") is dedicated to protecting the privacy rights of its users ("You"/"Yours"). We aim to be as transparent as possible and strive to keep up to date with the latest standards and regulations in privacy law (see details on the California Consumer Protection Act and the General Data Protection Regulation below). We believe that YOU should be in control of your data.
Data Collection and Anonymity of Information

Apart from providing us your email address for registration purposes, we may also collect (and require) personally identifiable information, including but not limited to your real name, address, profession, phone number, or email address. With your permission, we may also access information from third-party services to provide better targeted services to you.
We do not knowingly contact or collect personal information from individuals under 18 years of age. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us so we can promptly remove all related account information.
Access, Deletion and Retention of Data

You can sign into your account and contact us to see or delete certain personally identifiable information we have stored, such as your name, address, email, or phone number. We collect two types of data: (a) metadata from your device (e.g., IP address, geolocation), and (b) data you enter (e.g., profile information, organization information, accreditation data).
For a comprehensive list of all your personal information that we have collected, feel free to contact us at support@aceaglobal.com. We remove all your personal information and preferences associated with your account promptly after you delete your account.
Sharing of Data and Vendors

California Consumer Protection Act (CCPA) Compliance

The California Consumer Protection Act ("CCPA") was put in place to establish and protect privacy rights of California residents. Not only does ACEA comply with the CCPA, we have extended its rights to ALL of our users, not just those based in California.
Your Rights Under the CCPA:
- The right to know about the personal information a business collects about you and how it is used and shared. You can submit a request to receive a copy of all personal information ACEA has collected on you.
- The right to delete personal information collected (with some exceptions). Note that deleting your data will permanently delete your account.
- The right to opt-out of the sale of your personal information. ACEA never "sells" data in the traditional sense. We have never profited from the sale of an individual's data. However, we do occasionally share data with third-party analytics tools and email marketing software to optimize your experience.
The following categories of information may have been collected in the past 12 months:
- Identifiers such as real name, alias, postal address, unique personal identifier, online identifier, Internet Protocol address, email address, or account name.
- Characteristics of protected classifications under California or federal law.
- Commercial information, including records of products or services purchased, obtained, or considered.
- Internet or other electronic network activity information, including browsing history and interactions with our website or application.
- Geolocation data.
- Professional or employment-related information.
- Education information as defined in applicable privacy regulations.
General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Compliance

The General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR") was put in place to establish "a legal framework that sets guidelines for the collection and processing of personal information from individuals who live in the European Union (EU)". ACEA complies with the GDPR and views this as the "gold standard" of privacy law.
ACEA uses the following legal justifications for our collection of data:
- The data subject has given consent to the processing of their personal data for one or more specific purposes.
- Processing is necessary for the performance of a contract to which the data subject is party or in order to take steps at the request of the data subject prior to entering into a contract.
Under GDPR, individuals have the:
- Right to be informed: Organizations must tell individuals what data of theirs is being collected, how it's being used, how long it will be kept, and whether it will be shared with any third parties.
- Right of access: Individuals have the right to request a copy of the information that an organization has on them.
- Right of rectification: Individuals have the right to correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Right to be forgotten: In certain circumstances, individuals can ask organizations to erase any of their personal data.
- Right of portability: Individuals can request that an organization transfers any data that it has on them to another company.
- Right to restrict processing: Individuals can request that an organization limits the way it uses personal data.
- Right to object: Individuals have the right to challenge certain types of processing, such as direct marketing.
- Rights related to automated decision making: Including profiling, individuals can ask organizations to provide a copy of their automated processing activities if they believe the data is being processed unlawfully.
As an individual, you are free to exercise these rights. We only process your personal information with your prior consent and we shall not refuse to act on your request to exercise your rights.
We process your data in order to:
- Allow you to sign in and securely access your account.
- Provide you with the desired functionality of our product by using user-entered information such as organization and accreditation data.
- Customize content suggestions and service delivery.
